Yay! We won against Waitamata Sharks!

On the weekend my sister, dad and I went to my rugby game at Waitemata Rugby club, out of Auckland. When we arrived there, I went to my team to do warm up because it was very cold. My fingers and toes felt like they were numb and I thought I would freeze like a statue. After we warmed up the referee came and told us that the game was starting in two minutes. The  referee was wearing a striped T-Shirt like a zebra and  black pants so that it will be easy for us to recognise him. Our final two minute warm up was passing the ball and push ups and we all had to do it twenty times.

The game started. The other team kicked the ball to us. I caught it and passed it on to Josh,  who is in our first five position. He ran as fast as a bolt of lightning and almost got a try. But the other team’s fullback was angry like Mayweather when he fought with Manny Pacquiao in boxing, he tackled him with all his might so Josh offloaded the ball to me and I got a Try! Everyone in my team loudly cheered me. I felt so happy and proud of myself.

Then it was our turn to kick off the ball. They caught the ball and that person ran as fast as a cheetah towards me. I tackled him and and threw him down on the ground. It got a penalty because in rugby, throwing people out is dangerous. I made a mistake of not following the safety rules. Then the whistle blew for half time.

On the second half they scored and so the overall total score was 25 to 25. It wa a TIE! We had to break the tie so there will be a real winner. Our team kicked the ball to them and they kicked it back to us. Then my friend Levi caught the ball and passed it on to me so I ran as fast as “Flash”  and scored!  Again, we kicked the ball to them and they caught it and passed it to their player on the wing. He ran and sidestepped our wing and almost got a try. Immediately,  I ran after him and chased him across the field like Tom and Jerry.  He tried to pass it to his teammate so I snatched the ball off him and scored a run away try.

Then the whistle blew and that was the end of the game. The final score was 45 to us and 25 to them. We were all very happy and we congratulated each other by patting each other’s shoulders like silly little monkeys.

I did my best and scored 3 tries. I will try very hard not to get a penalty next time. Although we won, I felt that I let our team down by not giving my other team mates the opportunity  to score a try.

WALT use descriptive language to make my writing intresting.

I know I can do this when I use appropriate similies in my recount.
